023: Chapter 2 ~ Now, Go to the City! ③

Charlotte is very worried at Allen’s fake heart attack while Erika just shrugs.
“As usual, my older brother is astoundingly crazy. Hey, Charlotte, you should try on this one next!” Erika
“But his heart stopped? Is he okay?” Charlotte
“It was just a second or two, no problem. Well, shouldn’t be.” Erika
The flustered Charlotte has a pile of clothes pushed into her hands by Erika, then she was pushed into the fitting booth. Allen is astounded at her ability to move without letting any of the clothes fall to the ground.
“So” Erika murmurs while glancing at Allen.
“What should I do?” Erika
“For the time being, I’d like to learn about the current state of the Neils Kingdom.” Allen muses while he strokes his chin.
The two are speaking in low voices so Charlotte won’t hear them, as there’s only a curtain separating them.
“I’ve already repelled her pursuers once. Did they give up their pursuit, or are they still looking for her? The bulletin about her suggests they’re still looking.” Allen
The initial incident from the neighboring kingdom had been written about in the local newspaper, but no follow-up pieces had showed up. It should have been a sensational case, but no reporter had published any updates. It’s difficult to plan actions when information isn’t arriving.
It would be bad if Allen misunderstood the situation and was too careful or not careful enough. It’s just a troublesome situation.
“So, can you check it out instead of me?” Allen
“Leave it to me. You probably know that Dad is currently in that kingdom. I’ll try to find something out.” Erika responds with a wink.
“I’d like to find out about that prince and Charlotte’s house.” Allen
“Well, that should be fine…” Erika
“Do you think there will be problems? I think there’s something important behind them.” Allen
“If I find anything, I’ll let you know.” Erika
Allen sighs, he’s clearly invested in figuring out Charlotte’s circumstances. What was the reason behind her engagement, what kind of treatment she was getting at her father’s house. However, what would happen if he learned more…
“Once I know it, I’m not sure I can keep silent. I’ll try not to ignore Charlotte’s feelings and charge into the kingdom. So I’ll take my time with learning about those things.” Allen
“Hmm” Erika
“What’s with that face?” Allen
“No, your attitude has changed.” Erika grins and pinches Allen’s side.
“I’ve never seen my older brother care so much about another individual. That’s nice.” Erika
“Really?” Allen twists his neck in confusion.
It’s true that Allen hasn’t spent much concern on people who he wasn’t related to in the past… he’s not sure why the change is a “good thing”.
“I’ll look up what you asked me. In exchange, how about you go back to our parent’s house” Erika
“I refuse with all my strength” Allen interjects.
“So no?” Erika laughs in dismay, then glances to the fitting booth.
“Well, I’ll stick around for a while. Partly for Charlotte. Instead, will you help me with my magic tool work?” Erika
“Ok, that’s a simple enough favor.” Allen
“Yes! If I have you, you’re worth 100 assistants.” Erika
Erika smiles and leans on Allen’s shoulder for a bit. She’s Allen’s talented younger sister who is good at persuasion. She’s the yin to his yang.
“Ummm…” Charlotte speaks from inside the fitting booth.
Allen worries that she may have heard the Erika and him talking. He takes a breath in worry.
“Charlotte? What’s wrong?” Erika asks calmly.
“I’m sorry… I can’t reach the clip on the back…” Charlotte
“I see! Just a minute!” Erika says as she enters the fitting booth without hesitation.
In response, Allen looks away in a hurry. He was able to spot a slight slice of flesh through the gap, but he chooses to apply brainwash magic to himself to forget that event.
