002: Reincarnation

As I wake up, I get the feeling I’m surrounded by a fluffy something. I feel a bit worried that it seems I am being picked up by a giant silhouette of a person.

(Wow! What, what!)

“Wahhhhh! Wahh!” Yuji

I was trying to ask a question, but the sounds that come out of my mouth are the cries of a baby. I guess the giants surrounding me aren’t giants, but normal humans. Babies can’t see details, so that’s why they look like silhouettes instead of people. My hearing isn’t the best either.

Even though I just woke up, I’m still pretty sleepy. It’d be nice to check into the current situation, but my sleepiness is pushing me back to dreamland.

Fast forward a week. At first, I couldn’t see or hear much, which worried me, but recently my sight and hearing have markedly improved. Thanks to that, I have a good grasp on my surroundings. My room has a baby bed, a dresser, a desk, and other minor baby room items. It may be spartan, but it’s a calm room.

In the first place, cluttered rooms aren’t recommended for babies. I wonder what’s covering the floor? It looks soft, maybe it’s an animal product or something like cotton? I can’t tell since I’m stuck in my baby bed. Hopefully this is the local lord’s residence like the God told me.

Sometimes someone will open the window, I can hear the breeze in the nearby trees, and gust of clean air comes through the window. The best of Japan’s city air can’t compare to the worst of this countryside air.

Recently, I’m not sleeping so much of the day, so I’m able to observe my surroundings more. I can’t wait til I’m able to start walking. I want to be able to play around with other kids. I don’t want this forced relaxation where I can’t choose what to do. That’s why I’m trying to exercise myself to get ready to crawl and walk. Truth be told, I’m really just moving my hands and feet around, I can’t even sit up yet.

That God told me that I would be given magical ability, but how does that work?

While I was thinking about magic, some people are walking up to the door of my room. Could it be my parents?

A man and a women come through the door, my mother and father. But they have two children with them that I haven’t seen before. My mother has long chestnut hair and a gentle smile. She picks me up and hums a soft song. Next to her is my father, who has blonde hair and transparent blue eyes. He looks like a trustworthy guy. Both are quite beautiful, I wonder if that’s just the standard for this world, or are they special?

My father pokes my cheeks while acting concerned like a responsible father. He’s saying something, but I didn’t get a magical translation ability from God. Looks like I’ll need to learn the language. I’m not that great at learning other languages, but I think I’ll be able to figure it out.

My two siblings are staring at me. The older one is a six-ish year old girl with the same hair as my mother. The younger one is a three-ish year old boy with the same blonde hair as my father.

My mother crouches down so my siblings can get a better look. The two siblings take turns patting my head, my brother should do it a bit softer.

Apparently, the sibling introduction is over as my father leads my siblings out of the room.

As my mother remains, I’ve realized that it’s that time again. I may have been in my twenties before I was reincarnated, but I can handle this feeding method. It’s not a sexual thing, though it’s a bit embarrassing. I’ve only been doing this a week, but I’ll get used to it soon, hopefully. Sorry mother, I’ll get on to feeding.

With my stomach full, I can’t stay awake much longer. Good night, family.

“…Warm…this feeling seems familiar…” Yuji

Feels like the place where I met God…

“That’s correct.” God

“Wow!” Yuji

The god suddenly appeared again. He nodded with satisfaction at my surprise.

“What are you doing here!? Am I dead again!? Are you the grim reaper now?” Yuji

“What! Rude! Don’t mix me up with that guy!” God

Looking at the god who who is getting angry, I’m starting to worry about the existence of grim reapers. Really, though, what am I doing here?

“Cough… I’m sorry to say that I’m sorry for any worry I might have caused. It seems like you were able to reincarnate safely. Now, the reason I brought you here this time is about magic.” God

“How to use magic?” Yuji

“OK, well, you should learn how to use it sooner or later. But I need to give you a warning about your Spatial Magic power.” God

I’m a true beginner at magic at the moment, so it’d be nice to get some more information and learn the important rules.

“Hmm. First of all, Spatial Magic. This is a magic classified as Ancient Magic that very few people can handle. The results are exceptional, but it takes enormous magical energy to use and more precise than average magic control. Plus there are some restrictions.” God

“Which are?” Yuji

“You have the ability, but don’t have anywhere near enough magic energy to use it.” God

“Hey, what’s the point then?!” Yuji

“OK, don’t panic. That’s why I brought you here, to help you with your magic power.” God

What? That’s nice. I was getting really worried there. This God sounds benevolent.

“Were you worried?” God

What’s this God so proud for? Hmm? Wait? If he explained it well before I reincarnated, I wouldn’t have needed to be brought back to this space.

“Well, let’s explain! I’ll explain this only once, so listen carefully!” God

Suddenly, the god starts with his tutorial. This person was absolutely misleading…

He finished the explanation about the conditions of Spatial Magic and magic energy.

Since this god is quite blasé, I sometimes need to ask a question, must stay alert.

“So, why don’t I practice magic every day?” Yuji

“Yes, you should! Finally, I’ll do some magic for a demonstration! Isn’t it special? Isn’t it special? God’s magic!” God

Actually, this god is having fun talking to someone else after a long time, isn’t it?

The God started his demonstration with “First, light!”

God confidently sways his cane. The tip suddenly starts shining, it looks like an LED, I was expecting a small flame.

It seems that this god has a predilection to Attribute-less Magic. While Spatial Magic is a Attribute-less Magic, Attribute-less Magic can’t do everything. How are you going to light a first or whet your thirst with Attribute-less Magic?

“Well, looks like you know enough at this point… then let’s do our best.” God

After that, God left the space. At the end, I’m back to staring at an infinite white space.

As my consciousness was pulled back into reality, my field of vision was getting fainter.
