034: Chapter 2 ~ Pleasure that can only be taught by Allen ②
Settings
I’m back! Turns out building and setting up 200+ square feet of raised gardens is pretty tiring. Work also got busy for a few weeks as well, so I was working outside or tired all weekend and tired on weekday evenings too.
And I’m back to life on Easter Sunday… odd coincidence.
Allen sips his tea, then clears his throat.
“Well… is time to go home?” Allen
“Yes, that’s right.” Charlotte responds with an awkward nod.
It’s clear that they’re both concerned by the shopkeeper’s words, but neither of them is interested in mentioned them. They don’t have the courage to get into it.
Before they leave, Allen gives a warning.
“Hey… you guys! I’m going home for now… but the curse will activate immediately if you slack off! Pay back your debt to society!” Allen
He’s shouted at a group of former troublemakers as a reminder.
“Yes, Yessir!” Troublemakers
Allen only applied a light curse on them, so they won’t die. The curse will cause them to hiccup without respite, but Allen was vague about that fact. Because of that vagueness, it’s unsurprising the troublemakers were so scared. Allen just wants the troublemakers to devote themselves to volunteering for a while.
“Well, do you want to head out? When we get home, We’ll need to clear out a room for Erika to use.” Allen
“Ah, don’t worry.” Erika remarks.
“What?” Allen asks as his pupils expand in confusion.
“Are you not staying with us? Are you going home?” Charlotte
“Yeah. I’m staying at an inn in the city, so you two should go home.” Erika
“Why?” Allen
“Ugh, I’d suffocate under the same roof as my brother.” Erika says as she lifts her shopping bag with a wink.
“Well, I’m going to enjoy some time to myself. I’ll see you two soon.” Erika
“What about our competition?” Allen
“Not over. I can’t lose yet.” Erika
“Huh?!” Allen
Erika is referring to their loosely defined battle around who can show Charlotte the most pleasure. It was originally slated to end tonight, but it’s not very clear who won. Allen probably won, but he’s reluctant to admit it.
“You aren’t making sense! What’s the reasoning?” Allen
“Figure it out yourself, it’ll be good for you.” Erika remarks with a smile.
“See you later, Ms. Charlotte! Nice to meet you!” Erika says as she waves to Charlotte.
“Yes, and well…?” Charlotte
As Charlotte tries to reply, Erika disappears into the crowd, it’s just Allen and Charlotte now.
Well, they’re back to their normal situation, no major changes. At the same time, they’re more conscious of each others… awkward.
Though, not an unpleasant awkwardness…
“Do you want to go home?” Allen
“Sounds good.” Charlotte
At that point, the two returned home.
After parting from Allen and Charlotte, Erika walks over to her inn.
“You can’t underestimate me… but I’m really only able to teach fashion and introduce her to delicious food.” Erika
Both Allen and Erika tried to respond to the challenge around Charlotte. Without outside interference, Erika could have easily taken the victory. But… Allen was able to take the win at the end.
He gave her a hair accessory?
He protected her from the attention of dastardly men?
Well, that alone wasn’t enough to defeat Erika. But it was the event that put him over the top.
“I can only tell her to love yourself, right?” Erika
Suddenly, something causes Erika to halt.
“Hey, man. Do you need any help?” Rogue A
“Please let us assist you! … Otherwise we might be cursed and die!” Rogue B
“Uhh… who are you people?” Young Man
The young wheelchair man has been surrounded by ruffians. Erika stared at the situation for a while, then shrugged and walked over to deal with the problem.
