032: Chapter 2 ~ The Great Demon King ②
Settings
Because the giant Rock Man suddenly fell into the a dogeza, the area turns noisy. One of the minions shouts at Magus, who is presently imitating a small mountain.
“Hey! What… boss?” Minion A
“That’s right! He’s just a weak guy, for the boss, you’d just need one shot!” Minion B
“Shut up you guys! Don’t make this any worse!” Magus
“Oof ah ah!” Minions
Magus is now forcing his minions to the ground as well. Swiftly, the group quiets down.
“Eh, eh?” Charlotte stammers with wide eyes.
“What’s going on?” Charlotte
“Ah, has my brother not told you yet?” Erika
“Ms. Erika!” Charlotte
While no one was watching, Erika had rejoined the group. It seems she had finished her conversation with the young man in the wheelchair. She’s holding a thick bundle of notepaper, she must have jotted down the materials and magic of the wheelchair.
Erika begins to explain in a light tone.
“My father runs the largest magic school in the country… He’s the director of the Athena Magic Academy.” Erika
The Athena Magic Academy is a prestigious school with hundreds of years of history. It’s said that just attending the school qualifies a person a career, and students from all over the world come to attend the school to hone their magic and sword skills to the utmost reaches.
“Ah, so that’s why both of you are good at magic.” Charlotte
“Well, then you have my brother…” Erika trails off and grins while looking at Allen.
“I was the genius who graduated from the magic academy at the record age of twelve and immediately rejoined as a professor.” Allen
“Whaaaaat?!” Charlotte
“Huh? Didn’t you explain about your past?” Erika
Allen acts confused when Charlotte raises her voice. He never meant to hide anything, he just hadn’t found the right time for it.
“Well, when I was Charlotte’s age, I was in school…” Allen
“But, as a professor of magic” Erika
“You never mentioned that?!” Charlotte shouts vigorously.
Allen had mentioned he had attended a school, but failed to mention he was a professor there. That was in the past, Allen thinks as a small smile graces his lips.
“I quit my professorship when I turned eighteen three years ago. I enjoyed it, but I needed a change.” Allen
“You must have had a hard time…” Charlotte
“Oh, I walked in to some cheeky students exploring each other one day, I tried to correct the behavior, but I was pushed out during the resulting discussions by a professor who had hated me since I started.” Allen
“Furthermore, you annoyed the hell out of the other professors. Everyone rejoiced when you chose to leave.” Erika
“I had various reasons…” Allen
“Why did you need to rephrase the explanation?” Erika
Charlotte looks away a bit.
“Well, it feels nostalgic, it’s Magus.” Allen smiles cheerfully as he taps Magus’s head.
“Hah…” Magus
Obviously, rock people have faces made of rocks, so it’s difficult to read their facial expressions. Magus is pretty obvious at the moment, his body trembles and quivers. Allen seems committed to ignoring it.
“I remember the first class you had with me. I was laughing at your statement of ‘I’ll blow away this kid for making fun of me.’” Allen
Allen at the time was a child of fourteen and Magus despised him. He quickly learned his place as Allen impressed on him and the other students the importance of tact. It seems like Magus was recalling some traumatizing event as his tremors increased. He continues sitting on the ground with his forehead in the dirt.
“Oh, please forgive me. Great Demon Lord! I never mean to bother you! I never heard you were in this city before…” Magus
“That… What does he mean by Great Demon Lord?” Charlotte
“Ah? That’s Allen’s nickname from when he was a professor.” Erika
This explains why Allen is reluctant when Myaha calls him Demon Lord. Frankly, the name is ridiculous. However, it’s been a long time since he was called the Great Demon Lord. Allen laughs pleasantly.
“You can stand up, Magus. I’m not that troubled.” Allen
“So, then-” Magus
“I’m not, but” Allen
As Magus raised a hopeful face, a large crack appeared on his forehead. The ambient temperature must have dropped ten degrees in a second as Allen slowly starts to speak.
“The person your subordinates tried to hurt was my…” Allen
Allen is a bit confused, he’s not sure what he would call Charlotte. He’s not quite sure what the correct word is…
Eventually, he settled on a word that isn’t perfect, but not wrong.
“My precious friend” Allen
At that point, the last light of the setting sun illuminated Allen’s face. The dazzling light colors his smile…
Anyone watching would say that the Great Demon King title was completely and utterly deserved.
