049: Snowball Fight: Sister vs. Younger Brother 2
Settings
“Listen! If you just follow Alfred’s steps, you won’t fall in! Be prepared!” Eleanora
Eleanora has crawled out of her second pitfall, and is following the path of my footsteps. Isn’t it strange that she’s keeping her magic power on her hands and legs active?
Even if we’re using magic in a snowball fight, it’s really about throwing snowballs at each other, right? I’m throwing snowballs at Eleanora since she’s coming in a straight line at me, but she’s smashing them with her fists.
“Al, what’s with these snowballs? Did you make the cores out of Ice Magic?” Eleanora
“But you’re smacking them away with magic-imbued fists! Isn’t it fair at this point?” Al
How does a person like who can only make hot water at a non-scalding temperature 33% of the time perfectly handle the advanced technique of coating parts of her body with magic? She’s a mystery.
Eleanora is getting closer while lowering her stance.
“Thor! I need to borrow some snowballs!” Al
“Oh, ok?!” Thor
I don’t have enough time to make any snowballs, so I use the Attribute-less Psychic magic to grab ten snowballs from Thor’s pile. Of course, I had to strengthen them using Ice Magic, they’re just a bit denser than a normal snowball.
I send them at Eleanora, all ten at once from all directions. They’re much faster than a normal thrown snowball, but this isn’t a normal snowball fight. Eleanora twists her body to avoid most, and dispatches the rest using her fists or kicks.
When did Eleanora change jobs from Swordswoman to Fist Fighter?
All of the crushed snowballs shed glittering crystals around Eleanora. Some would say that her red-brown ponytail swaying in a cloud of silver powder is beautiful, I would say it’s horrifying.
“Think fast!” Al
This time I’m throwing a normal snowball at Eleanora, no ice core. But I use Psychic magic to modify the trajectory of the snowball.
“Huh, so you’re trying something new!” Eleanora
“Eh?” Al
The original trajectory would have been right to Eleanora’s face, but the modified path sent it right to her chest.
Fyssh!
Sheila had some cushion to bounce the snowball, but Eleanora’s chest demonstrated a harder makeup.
A pregnant pause takes over, if I laugh now, I’ll be killed. How horrible that God makes the chest area so varied. I look at Eleanora, who has stopped for a second. The snowballs falls straight down, as there is no protrusion to catch the snow.
“Humph” I tried to stifle a laugh, but some leaked out.
I thought Eleanora would be coming to reap me, but instead she seems to be concentrating on something.
“I demand… a small fireball that burns all!” Eleanora
Eleanora gathers magic to make a Fireball using Fire Magic. It flies briskly at our ice wall, then causes it to melt. That section no longer has any snow and reveals the original soil. Her magic is a powerful as ever, she’s always putting the power at 10 of 10.
The surrounding villagers scream from the shock, along with Thor and Asmo.
“Al! Our Barriers!” Thor
“It’s hot! Wow! The ball melted everything!” Asmo
How cowardly to attack the supply unit!
“Emma, can you can take the other two on? Sheila, lend me a wooden sword!” Eleanora
“Yes!” Sheila
After Emma asked for a sword, one was thrown into her hand. Damn, I didn’t think to bring a sword along today.
“Thor, Asmo! We need to regroup!” Al
“All right!” Thor & Asmo
“Al, do you think you’re getting away? This humiliation, I’m coming for you!” Eleanora
I’d like to escape, but my sister won’t let that happen.
As the ice walls disappear and the snow at our feet melts away, Thor and Asmo withdraw to a nearby house. However, the enemy notices this retreat and throws snowballs to harry us. Thor isn’t quite quick enough to escape, but Asmo blocks for him, and they’re both able to duck behind a house.
“Hey! If you hide next a house, it’s our chance!” Sheila
“Sheila, let’s go for that!” Emma
“I’m going for it!” Sheila
Emma and Sheila throw snowballs at the icicles hanging from the house’s roof.
“Augh! Where are they aiming?” Thor
Thor jumps out of the way of the falling icicles.
“Hello, Thor” Emma
“Uh…” Thor
Thor was grabbed by his sister Emma in a blink of an eye by her leaning forward. I don’t think I’m jealous of his situation. Asmo has noticed Thor is in danger, but Asmo doesn’t seem to know what to do. It’ll be bad if he doesn’t do something.
“Asmo! Tackle the house!” Al
Asmo gets what I’m asking and responds with a smile. For our opponents, they look a bit confused with my remark. Yes, Thor might get taken out as well, but he’s a captured soldier. If enemies are taken out along with captured soldiers, it’s not a sacrifice… this should be a right decision for a commander.
“Thor, no hard feelings.” Al
“What? What are you doing?” Thor
Asmo’s no hard feeling comment freezes Emma who had grabbed Thor. As she was trying to figure out what was happening the house was rocked and some whooshing sounds were heard.
“Now they’re breaking my house!” Villager A
“Ok” Villager B
“It’s getting interesting, shut up.” Villager C
“Oh, funny!” Villager B
Suddenly, a bunch of snow from the house’s roof buries Thor and Emma.
“Wow, aah…” Thor
“Damn, augh…” Emma
The screams of the two were interrupted by the snow. However, Sheila escaped from the mini-avalanche because she wasn’t close enough to the house. Well, Asmo, step up and take her on…
“Asmo, why are you buried too?” Al
When I was looking for Asmo, I found him buried on the other side of Thor and Emma. I don’t get him, didn’t he realize what would happen? Couldn’t he get out of the way?
“Aww, this is no good. I’ll need to retire.” Sheila
Sheila takes up digging out Thor, Emma, and Asmo, she’s turned into the rescue team.
Now it’s down to Eleanora and I.
“I tried various strategies, but it seems they’ve been countered.” Al
Eleanora is holding a sword and smiles in aggressive manner. It seems she’s fired up. But what do I do now? My friends are defeated, I don’t have any snowballs.
It’d be crazy to go up against Eleanora. She’s go a wooden sword, and I don’t. I guess I could throw more ice blocks, but that didn’t work before, so let’s nix that idea. This has gone past a snowball fight.
Wait, there’s that special ball of snow…
In order to use that giant ball of snow we left in front of the mayor’s house, I’ll need to get line of sight to it. I enhance my legs and feet with magic and leap onto the roof of a nearby house.
“What are you planning?” Eleanora yelled, but she seems intrigued.
I can spot the village mayor’s house from the roof. I’ll lift that big ball using the Psychic magic. It’s heavy and difficult to exert precise control, but I should be able to do what I want.
“Hey, what’s that?” Villager A
“Is it a giant snowball?!” Villager B
“Where is it?” Villager C
“Is that the one blocking the village mayor’s house?” Villager B
“Oh, that super dense one that nobody could move.” Villager A
“The village mayor wasn’t going to be able to use his front door until the snow thawed. I feel a bit sorry that I thought it was funny.” Villager B
The village peanut gallery reacts to the appearance of my giant snowball.
I send the snowball flying at Eleanora. I can’t move it very fast, but there is a lot of mass to it. It it hit, it would be dangerous, but it’s too slow to hit Eleanora.
“You’ll never hit me with that big snowball!” Eleanora
“Do you think that was my goal?” Al
For the next phase of my plan, I shot a fireball with compressed magic power into the giant snowball. The fireball hits the center of the snowball and causes it to explode into smaller snowballs all over the area. I use Psychic magic to prevent any of the pieces from hitting villagers or houses. That way onlookers are kept safe and I now have control of many snow/ice projectiles.
Eleanora manages to dodge the initial fusillade of ice blocks, she bends down or runs around swinging her sword. She slashes approaching ice blocks with her wooden sword, or sometimes deflects an ice block into another ice block. She darts dazzlingly between a storm of ice blocks. Is she really human?
Eleanora seemingly has physical ability exceeding the realm of humanity. Even through the storm of ice, Eleanora keeps an eye on me. It’s clear that Eleanora won’t be defeated by the initial ice pieces, so I’ll send the ice I had prevented from hitting the spectators at her too.
Eleanora was hit by a series of attacks, one after another. The rain of ice blocks finishes, it was a breathtaking attack. Despite the beautiful attack, I still feel unsettled. My intuition is saying that getting closer will lead to my immediate defeat.
It’s clear that even after more than a hundred ice blocks fired by Psychic, none hit. Only the first snowball hit Eleanora, the storm I just fired was all dodged or smashed. No matter how much I varied the trajectories, no further missiles hit. What the hell is going on?
I realized that I am out of ammunition again. I hurriedly try to gather up some of the fallen ice and snow. Eleanora didn’t miss her chance and charged right at me with tremendous speed. I promptly send out a ice block and attempt to use the remains of an ice wall as a shield, but Eleanora uses it as leverage to slash at me.
“Hai!” Eleanora
“Augh!” Al
I instantly abandoned the ice wall and reprised my sky escape. I created Shield magic as footholds and ran away. I make more and more, jumping further up.
“Wait!” yelled Eleanora as she pursues me using my Shield magic herself.
I release the shield magic soon after I leave them, but she’s been jumping along before they disappear. She’s using my magic as a ladder!
I deploy the next shield and jump, but I create an large ice block between the two Shield magic steps.
“What is this?!” Eleanora
Looking back, Eleanora has stabbed her sword into the ice wall to not fall down. I’m stunned that she was able to do it. This is dangerous, I’m glad I thought about putting a barrier in place.
“Hey, Eleanora. Are you aware of how high up we are?” Al
“Eh?” Eleanora
At this point, Eleanora takes the chance to look down. Up here, the wind is both strong and cold. I can see the village houses surrounded by villagers the size of beans. In the distance, the mansion we live in is visible. Eleanora seems to realize what she’s gotten herself into.
“Uh…” Eleanora
“Well, let’s get down now.” Al
“Hey, what about me” Eleanora
“Just so you know, the ice sculptures had the ridiculous proportions added after we left.” Al
“Well, but you said that the three of you made them.” Eleanora
“How are you getting down? I’m planning on making a long slide with Ice Magic, for myself only.” Al
“Ah! I’m sorry for not hearing you out!” Eleanora
“Anything else?” Al
“What else?” Eleanora
“If we keep fighting, I can’t help you down.” Al
“….” Eleanora
“What, I can’t hear anything?” Al
“I give up!” Eleanora screams with a sad expression.
On this day, I was able to claim victory over Eleanora for the first time.
