032: An Angel's Smile
Settings
After leaving Celia’s restaurant with Count Melna and Viscount Yulina, I returned to the Slowlette family’s mansion. Seems there’s an unfamiliar carriage out front. There weren’t any horses or coachmen around it, perhaps it belongs to Melna or Yulina?
Based on the wood type and decorations, this isn’t an average person’s carriage. This is an expensive carriage for carrying passengers comfortably, very unlike one of Triela’s carriages. In addition, there’s a heraldry icon on the side of the carriage.
“That’s my carriage.” Yulina
“You have a crest featuring an eagle?” Al
“Yes, that’s the traditional coat of arms for my family. It has been passed down from my ancestors along with my title.” Yulina
“I see, that’s nice. The other carriage must be for Count Melna? The one featuring a sword?” Al
Behind the first carriage is an exceptionally large carriage. Since Melna is a higher rank than Yulina, he has to have a fancier carriage.
“Well, mine and Melna’s coats of arms are less obvious than the Slowlette family’s coat of arms.” Yulina
“You’ve got a dragon.” Melna
Count Melna and Viscount Yulina are trying to muffle their laughter. One might say that dragons are inseparable from Nord’s life, much to his chagrin. The Slowlette family does own a carriage, but it’s simpler than either of the carriages out front. It has a dragon emblem on it. The tale where Nord killed a Dragon turned out to be very popular in the royal capital, apparently it’s been turned into a play. I must see it when I visit the royal capital. It makes me laugh when I think of the normally discreet Nord getting his own play.
“Dragon Slayer… huhu” Al
“Hey, don’t laugh at your father’s accomplishment. Heh” Yulina
“I’m sorry, it’s just ironic kuhuhu” Al
Viscount Yulina is trying to chide Melna for chuckling, but they’re both having trouble.
“If I had to deal with his fame, I’d be in agony any time I thought about it.” Al
“Huhuhu… I’m sorry about it.” Melna
“Dra, Dragon Slayer” Al
“Stop it, you’ll wake a sleeping dragon” Yulina
“Hehehehe” Melna
I wonder if Viscount Yulina can’t hold it together anymore from our conversation. He tries to act like a gentleman, but he’s got some puns in him.
“Who is the Dragon Slayer? Can’t keep a sense of decorum?” Nord
I’ve done it. We got too into our conversation and didn’t notice that Nord was coming to welcome Melna and Yulina. The Dragon Slayer’s face is smiling without a hint of warmth.
“An aristocrat serving the great Kingdom of Milfilt. Count Darius Melna has arrived.” Melna
“Another aristocrat who also serves the great Kingdom of Misfilt, Viscount Eustelle Yulina thanks you for your invitation.” Yulina
They may be dressed like any other villager, but Melna and Yulina can bring out aristocratic manners when they need it. They’ve clearly had a privileged upbringing.
“Welcome to the Slowlette estate, please let Alfred, the second son of the family, welcome you from the bottom of his heart.” Al
I quickly move away from the Melna and Yulina and nearer the door for my welcome speech.
“Oh, this second son Alfred is a polite child.” Melna
“Thank you” Yulina
Two guests step through the front door with peaceful smiles.
“Wait a minute” Nord
Uhhh…
“That’s not going to erase your earlier actions. It seems I’ll have a nice chat with Count Melna and Viscount Yulina, but later, we’ll address that over sword practice in the garden.” Nord
Melna and Yulina are looking at me with pity. Nord, I Melna and Yulina walk through the first floor of the mansion to where the remaining guests are.
“Mrs. Lynaria has already been sent to the guest room” Nord
It seems we’re heading to the guest room. Since I’m six-years-old, I doubt I have anything to contribute to the adult’s talk. I tried to head the other way…
“Hmm, where is Al going? The guest room is this way.” Nord
“Wha?” Al
Nord’s hand has grabbed my collar so I can’t escape. Dang! I thought that was the perfect timing. Can Nord detect my movements without looking?
“I might visit the restroom…” Al
“You’ll be fine, you just need to greet Mrs. Lynaria, follow along.” Nord
“Yes” Al
Of course, Melna and Yulina wouldn’t assist me. Anyway, I can’t joke around Nord anymore, so I’ll be greeting Mrs. Lynaria. I don’t have a nice face like Eleanora or Silvio, so I’ll be a quick greeting.
“It’s me” Nord
Nord knocks on the door to announce that we’ve arrived. Sarah gracefully opens the door from inside and lets us in.
“Eustelle!” Lynaria
As soon as we entered the room, a woman on the sofa stood up. The first thing that surprised me was the height of her body. She’s less than a meter and half? Pale white skin wearing a elegant pink fluffy dress with straight, chestnut hair down to her waist. She jumps up and runs over to Viscount Yulina. That seems a little young to be married, she looks pretty young.
“Lynaria” Yulina
Viscount Yulina gently picks up Lynaria who jumped into his arms. Viscount Yulina looks happy to see his wife, that dignified figure has an odd love life. It must be that, he is a lolicon. Does that make him a Viscount Lolina?
“Hmm, uh huh” Lynaria
The Viscount Yulina couple decides it is time to pay attention to the rest of the world again.
“Lynaria, there’s new people to greet” Yulina
“Oh, that’s right. My apologies. I’m Lynaria, the wife of Viscount Eustelle Yulina. Nice to meet you, Count Melna, Alfred Slowlette.” Lynaria
She bows down with the gestures particular to younger girls.
“Your reputation precedes you, you are a cute lady. Count Darius Melna.” Melna
Lynaria shrinks with a embarrassed face muttering “I’m cute…”
If she was praised any more, she might turn catatonic.
“I’m Alfred, the second son of the Slowlette family. I welcome you to my family’s residence.” Al
Lynaria is looking at me like she wants to dote on me. It looks like she’s a different kind of woman to the average Koriat Village woman.
“Thank you for your polite greeting Alfred.” Lynaria
Lynaria smiles in a beatific style. I wonder if this was the reason Viscount Lolina fell in love with her.
