029: Chapter 2 ~ The End of the Rogue ①
Settings
This was a relatively warm weekend, so I spent a good bit of time working outside on my garden preparations.
“Hey, nice guy!” Shopkeeper
“Huh” Allen
The shopkeeper called out when it was clear I wasn’t running away. She comes out of the store and whispers to Allen.
“Those guys are part of a party that’s been stirring up trouble lately. You should run away before anything happens. I’ll handle them, somehow.” Shopkeeper
“I don’t want to cause you trouble.” Allen
“You should put your friend above me.” Shopkeeper
“Fair, but I don’t want either of you to be hurt. I’ll handle this, so please stay back.” Allen
“I don’t know what you’re planning…” Shopkeeper whispered as she worriedly withdrew.
But, she was right, Allen had run into some nasty opponents. The one that bumped into Charlotte will be called Rogue A, the other can be Rogue B. Rogue A looks at Allen from head to toe.
“You look like a new face… are you a newcomer to the city?” Rogue A
“So I guess you don’t know of the powerful Rock Solid Adventurers?” Rogue B
“Yeah, I haven’t heard of something like that.” Allen
It’s pretty common for adventurers to group together into a troop. Some get as big as fifty members, though that’s on the high side. Such troops can become well-known, but Allen doesn’t spend much time in the city, so he wouldn’t know of them.
“Yeah, it’s would be great if you could just let this go.” Allen
“Oh? What’s with your attitude…” Rogue A says as creases appear on his forehead.
He recovers quickly and smiles mockingly.
“Oh, we’ll let it go, but there’s some conditions.” Rogue A
“That’s quick and helpful. How much do you want?” Allen
“We don’t want your money” Rogue A
Rogue A leers at Charlotte as Allen reaches for his wallet.
“That woman there, let us take care of her tonight.” Rogue A
“What?” Allen croaks out.
Allen gets what Rogue A is saying, he can understand. When his brain tried to process the statement, it didn’t quite sink in. His fingers start to lose feeling and he stops breathing for a second or two.
Rogue A & B seems to take Allen’s reaction as giving up, as the start to ogle Charlotte.
“She looks pretty good, I’ve been getting bored of playing with the same working gals.” Rogue A
“How about your girlie? Are you two already doing the horizontal shuffle?” Rogue B
“Working gal, horizontal shuffle?” Charlotte
“Seriously! This girl doesn’t know that stuff?!” Rogue A
The two rogues make unpleasant laughter that echoes through the street. Passerby’s are starting to stop and watch the altercation. Before everyone goes down a bad road, Allen decides to take action…
One of the rogues reaches out to Charlotte…
“Hey, come with us. I can buy better accessories than that cheap thing.” Rogue A
“Huh… no, please stop.” Charlotte
“Don’t wait, I’ll show you heaven with my technique tonight.” Rogue B
Suddenly the disgusting comments cease. If you were watching carefully, you’d see Allen’s fist buried in Rogue A’s cheek. The man’s face distorts, like the world was running in slow motion. The eyes of Charlotte, the shopkeeper, and the passerby’s express extreme astonishment when they realize what just happened.
Oh, Allen finally went and did it, even if was a bit regrettable.
“I could just die!” Allen
Allen chose to let his fist fly without hesitation.
