027: Chapter 2 ~ Small Gift ②

In that way, the three spent their tea break relaxing. Before you would notice, the sun started to set and the road traffic changed. Earlier in the day, it was full of ordinary citizens, but the current group was full of adventurers returning from the dungeons for the day. After the sun sets, they’ll decompress from today’s adventurer at the bar eating food and drinking their fill of booze.
(Is Charlotte worried?) Allen thinks to himself.
Allen recalls the soldiers who were chasing her. If you look, there are adventurers wearing similar heavy mail. Charlotte looks fine for now, but Allen decides to suggest going back to his house. Allen drinks the last of his tea.
“Well, is it time to head home?” Allen
“Oh, that’s right. It’s time for dinner.” Charlotte nods energetically.
Erica instead boos loudly.
“Boo! Hey! The night is just beginning! You see, I found some delicious restaurants in the guidebook!” Erika
“You’re going to keep eating?” Allen
The oversized crepe that Erika was eating earlier had been completely consumed. Allen could only see the sweet as future heartburn, but Erika seems to treat the sweet differently. Erika pulls out a guidebook and starts showing it to Charlotte.
“Hey, how about here? This one specializes in cheese, so cheese pizza, cheese fondue, hamburger steak filled with cheese!” Erika
“Cheese?” Charlotte
Charlotte looks to be nailed to the guidebook. She had a healthy portion of the cake set, but it seems she’s still hungry. If so, it would be a two-to-one vote, so Allen quietly watches the discussion. If Charlotte is interested, he thinks it wouldn’t be bad to visit the restaurant. He can’t complain in that instance…
(Was I not adventurous enough?) Allen thinks.
Allen and Erika’s battle to please Charlotte continues. Erika has stolen a march on Allen today. He won’t lose anything, but as Charlotte’s guardian, he like there’s bigger stakes afoot.
Of course, this isn’t about third parties. He’s trying to encourage Charlotte to be more assertive, so she can spend her days happy. That’s the primary goal, nothing less will suffice. She needs to be the happiest girl in the world.
Allen is worried about this turn of events.
“Oh?” Erika
“Ok, then let’s get on the way there! Come on, brother… huh?” Erika
Something caught Erika’s eye at the moment she chose to move to the cheese restaurant.
“Eh? Erika?” Charlotte
Erika snapped her head in a direction. Without even responding to Charlotte, the foolish sister stands up and runs across the main street without hesitation. She’s going towards… a young man with thin legs. The young man is in a wheelchair, whose wheels were slightly floating above the ground.
“This looks cool! Hey!” Erika
“Uhh? What is it?” Young Man
“This magic wheelchair, what workshop made it? It’s cool, I haven’t seen this type before!” Erika
“Oh… is it? Ah, the workshop? I made it…” Young Man
“Seriously? Amazing! It must be using wind magic, right? Moreover, it’s crazy that this combination of materials is working stably.” Erika
“Well, uh…” Young Man
Erika waylays a confused young man and starts to grill him about his wheelchair. Her glittering eyes seem to have forgotten Allen and Charlotte. Charlotte was watching the interaction, but soon breaks down.
“Ms. Erika, she really does love magic. I wish, if only I had something like that… What?” Charlotte
Suddenly, Charlotte notices that she’s the only one at the table. Allen calls out to her as she looks around.
“Hey, I’m over here.” Allen
“Oh, Allen!” Charlotte
In response to his call, Charlotte comes over to a street vendor next to the coffee shop they had taken tea in.
