013: Chapter 1 ~ A Small Incident in the Morning ②
Settings
The living room, kitchen, and other common rooms have already been cleaned. After that was the storeroom and garden, Allen had told Charlotte those weren’t high priority…
When he said that, Charlotte made a bitter smile and replied.
“Since I’m indebted to you, I thought I would make sure things were handled.” Charlotte
“You’re so serious…” Allen
Allen is amazed, but is worried about Charlotte’s long-term health if she continues at her current pace. He’s not sure what to make of her. He can’t spot any problems with her physical condition, so he guesses that she’ll be fine for now.
“You can relax this morning.” Allen
“Ok, but… it’s a habit.” Charlotte
“Did you spend every day cleaning your house?” Allen
“Haha…” Charlotte laughs with a vague expression on her face.
Even if the Duke’s house has rotten people, the servants shouldn’t have been thrown out. Even so, Charlotte was forced to clean the house… Allen is unsure of what the reasoning was, but doubts it was in good taste.
After those sorts of thoughts, Allen’s drowsiness is blown away. His stomach is queasier than when he had too much to drink, and his brow wrinkles. Charlotte lowers her head in a panic in response.
“Well, then, enjoy your sleep. I’ll be quiet during the cleaning.” Charlotte states before heading to the front door.
Allen has no option but to allow it, he watches her disappear around the corner, then starts to stroke his chin.
“I can’t believe that she won’t say anything bad about the people who treater her like that…” Allen
She was treated even worse than a servant, then chased out of her house for fabricated crimes. Yet she doesn’t seem to hold a grudge again her ‘family’ or her ex-fiancé the prince who caused her exile. If Allen was in her position, he’d be sure to crush those people…
“Rather that not bearing a grudge against them, is is possible she can’t even think of bearing a grudge?” Allen
Even if she had a grievance, she might be too scared to think further on those feelings. She does seem to be scared of those people and has low self-esteem. This isn’t a fun thing to think about. Allen thinks of such things as he walks down the hall.
“Oh, thanks… What are you doing? Who are you?” Myaha
“Oh, uh…” Charlotte
Two voices are heard from the front door, Allen suddenly turns and sprints towards there. He’s running faster than ever before, but he’s rewarded with a terrible scene.
“Wait a minute!” Allen
“Oh, Allen” Charlotte
“Nyaa?” Myaha
There’s Charlotte with a broom across from Myaha who was delivering the mail. The two girls had run into each other without an explanation, this wasn’t good. Allen gets in front of Charlotte to shield her.
“I’m sorry, this is a maid I recently hired. She’s terribly shy.” Allen
“Hmm, I was worried about your mess. That was a brilliant idea to hire a maid, Mr. Demon Lord.” Myaha
“What? The Demon Lord?!” Charlotte screams.
Allen puts his hand on his head while massaging his temples.
“It’s a nickname, only a nickname. What a shame.” Allen
“Isn’t it a fitting title? Well, anyway…” Myaha
Myaha smiles, but tries to look at Charlotte, who was hiding behind Allen.
“I’ve seen this maid’s face before, specifically, in a recent newspaper.” Myaha
Charlotte has a sharp intake of breath.
