“Your job would be a live-in maid” Allen
Allen explains that the work expected from such would be general housework. An allowance above room and board would be provided, along with three meals a day and snacks as reasonable. Allen’s mansion is much larger than Allen needs, so adding a Charlotte into the mix wouldn’t inconvenience him. Charlotte begins to panic from the shock.
“Didn’t you hear my story? I’m running from the authorities!” Charlotte
“Well, yeah. Concealing a women with such a background could be said to be a poor decision.” Allen
Allen is trying to summon his cool side, if it exists. Charlotte is a troublesome existence, sure, but Allen is well placed to shelter her. He lives in the depths of a forest and has few visitors. He doesn’t want to abandon her without a good reason.
“As I mentioned earlier… I have been betrayed like you were.” Allen
“you too…” Charlotte
“I’m Allen, Allen Crawford.” Allen
Allen looks into Charlotte’s eyes as he begins his story…
About three years ago, Allen set out on a journey to expand his horizons and was invited to join a party of adventurers. They were looking for a skilled Magician, and he was looking to do some exploration. It seemed like a good trade, since adventurers allegedly value results over background, and Allen was a genius magician that was often misunderstood. Unfortunately, it seems that the party was planning on taking advantage of Allen from the beginning.
“They convinced me to release the seal on an ancient temple to steal the treasure within. I unsealed it and got caught in a stampede of demons while they ran off with the treasure.” Allen
“Oh, that’s… that’s terrible!” Charlotte
“Well, the story continues.” Allen
Allen shakes his head and smiles in wry manner. He talks about surviving the stampede with difficulty, but he became anti-social. He takes Charlotte’s hand for emphasis.
“At that time, there was no one to help me, so… I don’t want to leave you in a similar situation.” Allen
“Allen” Charlotte
Charlotte is completely entranced at this point. Allen talks about how he gathered evidence of his former party members crimes and got them arrested. When he knew for sure that they would face punishment for their actions, he was overjoyed. Additionally, the former party members were discovered to have multiple bounties on their heads for additional past crimes. Allen was able to collect the bounties and used the rewards to purchase his mansion and retire comfortably.
He picked up a case of misanthropy, but revenge did pay off for Allen. He wouldn’t want to encourage Charlotte onto the path of revenge, as he had found only a monetary payoff he found, not emotional.
“But I don’t want to be a nuisance to Mr. Allen. I’d love to stop running, but I can’t accept your offer.” Charlotte
“Well… I guess it can’t be helped.” Allen
Charlotte is too stubborn for her own good. Allen thinks he has a solution…
“Then, I’ll have to use my last resort!” Allen
Allen snaps his fingers. On his clothes a glowing red emblem appears around his heart, a curse emblem. It’s terrifying, a dastardly curse that only a skilled person could cast. He grins daringly at Charlotte.
“Right now, I’ve given myself a Death Curse!” Allen
“eh?…” Charlotte
Charlotte is very confused at this point. Allen points his index finger at the curse to emphasize it.
“I won’t life this curse unless you agree to work here! Be quick, as this curse will kill me in only three minutes!” Allen
“What?!” Charlotte
“Come on, make a decision! Otherwise this innocent civilian will die!” Allen
“Why is this happening? Uh, he looks to be a villain, but he acts like a virtuous person trying to help me?” Charlotte
“Hahaha, of course I’m a upstanding person, but what should I do? Charlotte! I only have two minutes and thirty-one seconds left to live! It’s already getting harder to breathe!” Allen
“Please take better care of yourself!” Charlotte
That’s how Allen managed to convince Charlotte to become his maid, it ended up taking less than a minute. But she was desperately crying during and afterwards.
